Salvatore CAVALIERI

Salvatore Cavalieri graduated in Electronic Engineering from the University of Catania on 12 July 1989. In January 1990 he obtained the qualification to practice as an Engineer.

In the academic year 1989/90 he won a PhD position in Electronic and Computer Engineering (5th cycle), which he concluded on 30 September 1993. In October 1994, he was the winner of the post-doctoral research activity scholarship in Electrical Engineering at University of Catania.

In 1995 he became Researcher in "Sistemi dell'Elaborazione delle Informazioni" at the University of Catania.

In 1998 he won the position of Associate Professor in "Sistemi dell'Elaborazione delle Informazioni" , and took up service in this role the same year at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Catania.

Since 2003 he has held the role of Full Professor in"Sistemi dell'Elaborazione delle Informazioni" (Computer Engineering).

Since March 2022 he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Catania.

From 2018 to 2022 he held the role of Deputy Director of the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering (DIEEI).

From May 2021 to March 2022 he was part of the Disciplinary Board of the University of Catania, Ordinary section.

From 2010 to 2022 he was a member of the Steering Committee of the CINI Consortium (National Inter-university Consortium for IT).

From April 2011 to October 2017 he held the role of President and Legal Representative of the Cometa Consortium (Multi-Body Consortium for the promotion and adoption of Advanced Computing Technologies).

His main research activities mainly concern Industrial Informatics, real-time communication systems and Machine Learning applications.
