Concetto SPAMPINATO
Concetto Spampinato received the Laurea (grade 110/110 cum laude) degree in computer engineering and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Catania, in 2004 and 2008, respectively, where he is currently an assistant professor. In 2007 he was visiting researcher at the School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh (UK). In April 2018 he was appointed as "Courtesy" Assistant Professor at the Center for Research in Computer Vision, University of Central Florida (USA). He is also member of the Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision Lab at the University of Catania. In 2020, he got the National Scientific Qualification to Full Professor (ASN - Prima Fascia) in Computer Engineering (SSD 09/H1) and in Computer Science (SSD 01/B1).
He has coauthored over than 200 publications in international refereed journals and conference proceedings. He is/was associate editor/guest editor of international journals such as IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, Computer Vision e Image Understanding, Pattern Recognition Letters, Multimedia Systems. He is member of IEEE, CVF and IARPR. He is also ELLIS fellow. He is also one of the PIs of the PNRR project Future of Artificial Intelligence Research (FAIR) and member of the scientific committee of the related FAIR foundation. He is also PI of many other national and international EU projects (total funding > 10M€) dealing with AI and its applications.
