Daniela Giovanna Anna PANNO

Associate Professor of Telecommunications [ING-INF/03]

Daniela Panno received the Dr.Ing. degree (with honors) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Catania, Italy, in 1989, and the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science Engineering from the University of Palermo, Italy, in 1993.  Since 1998, she has been an Associate Professor in the SSD IINF 03/A “Telecommunications” at the DIEEI, University of Catania. She has held or currently holds the following positions: member of the Department Council; chair of the Commissione Paritetica Dipartimentale; representative of the UdR for the University of Catania within the National GTTI Association; member of the PhD Teaching Board in Engineering of Systems, Energy, Informatics, and Telecommunications. During her scientific career, she has collaborated with international research institutions and universities (University of Glasgow; Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya; University of Oulu). She has participated in several international workshops and symposia as an invited speaker and Guest Editor for journals. Her scientific activities are carried out within national and international research projects, including the most recent ones: the PON Ricerca e Innovazione 2014-2020 project “Multipatform Support for IoT Applications” (SUMMIT); MISE program “EU-PON Enterprises and Competitiveness 2014-2020” “M9” (CDS 000448). She is the Scientific Responsible for the DIEEI in the following projects: “IATLIP – Improved Testing with Language Interface Pack,” Operational Goal 4.1.1 of the POR FESR Sicily 2007-2013; “PYTHIA,” Operational Goal 4.1.1 of the POR FESR Sicily 2007-2013; “CLOUTER tourism terminal in the Cloud,” Operational Goal 4.1.1 of the POR FESR Sicily 2013-2015. She is currently the Principal Investigator for the University of Catania for the project “Industrial and Digital Transition Network” SPOKE 5-UniBo, partnership on “Telecommunications of the Future” (PE00000001 - program “RESTART”) of the PNRR. She has published in numerous journals and conference proceedings. Currently, she focuses on AI-based solutions for radio access in 6G networks.
