PhD Brainstorming Day

The PhD  Brainstorming day is an event that has been taking place for more than a decade, occurring at least once a year. This working day is devoted to report the research and training activities undertaken by each PhD student as part of their educational program.

Before 2016, the event followed the format of a traditional workshop, featuring only single-session oral presentations. Starting in 2016, the Brainstorming Day adopted a more interactive approach, with the additional goal of fostering productive interactions among PhD students and between them and the Professors of the PhD academic board.

Typically, the day begins with a brief presentation, from the PhD students, covering:

  • The main aspects of the research topic.
  • Results achieved during the previous year.
  • Training activities (PhD schools, courses, seminars) carried out to support the research (summarized in a final slide).

The second part of the event is designed to be more interactive. Each student uses a poster and l’ausilio di un poster and other multimedia tools to present their research in detail, particularly to members of the PhD academic board who evaluate the student's work. The presentations are also open to a broader audience, including guests and undergraduate students.

It is not uncommon for international faculty visiting the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Computer Engineering to attend the event as guests.
