Full Professor of Electronics [ING-INF/01]

Gianluca Giustolisi was born in Catania in 1971 and is a Full Professor of Electronics.

In 1995, he graduated with honors in Electronic Engineering, and in 1999 he obtained a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Catania.

In 2002, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Electronics. In 2004, he won the competition for the position of Associate Professor at the Polytechnic University of Turin and, in 2005, joined the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Catania as an Associate Professor. In 2017, he obtained the National Scientific Qualification for Full Professor. In 2023, he won the competition for a Full Professorship at the University of Catania and took up the position in 2024.

Since the academic year 2002/03, he has taught several courses in Analog Electronics and Electronic Devices for undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Computer Engineering and Electronic Engineering. He currently teaches “Electronics (A–L)” for undergraduate students in Computer Engineering and “Analog Electronics” for students enrolled in the Master’s Degree Program in Electronic Engineering.

During the period 2006–2008, he served as Coordinator of the Catania Research Unit within the National Research Project of Relevant Interest (PRIN 2005) entitled “A/D Converters for Silicon-Integrated Control Systems with High Rejection of Electromagnetic Interference Disturbances”, carried out in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Turin and the University of Padua.

His research interests include the analysis, modeling, and design of analog integrated circuits and systems, with particular emphasis on compensation techniques, bandgap voltage references, fuzzy integrated circuits, and nonlinear circuits and systems in general. He is also involved in the design of low-voltage and low-power analog circuits.

He is the author of more than 110 scientific publications in international journals and conference proceedings. He is also the author of the book “Introduzione ai dispositivi elettronici” (Introduction to Electronic Devices), published in 2005 by Franco Angeli. From 2008 to 2017, he served as Associate Editor of the Journal of Circuits, Systems, and Computers. Since 2016, he has been a member of the Editorial Board of Elsevier’s Microelectronics Journal. From 2022 to 2025, he served as Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on AgriFood Electronics. During 2024–2025, he was Senior Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Express Briefs. Since 2026, he has been an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I: Regular Papers.

From the academic year 2009/10 to 2012/13, he served as Chair of the Academic Board in Electronic Engineering.

From the academic year 2013/14 to 2015/16, he served as Chair of the Master’s Degree Program in Electronic Engineering.
