Seminario "Array Antennas for Space Communications: Innovative Architectural Solutions and Effective Design Strategies"

Abstract

In the last years, a renewed interest is arisen in devising architectural solutions for array antennas devoted to transmission (and reception) from geostationary satellites. In such an application, the goal is to design multibeam antennas such to fulfill given constraints in terms of directivity masks for the different beams while using a number of ‘control points’ as small as possible. Moreover, in order to have an efficient power exploitation on board, it’s required that the different radiating elements are fed with the same amplitude.
This talk will present some innovative approaches to the synthesis of three different kinds of architectures having the capability to fulfill the above requirements, i.e.: sparse arrays, thinned arrays, and clustered arrays.
