Summary of main scientific activities

Starting from 1994, the investigated research fields have been: (i) reaction mechanisms in heavy-ion collisions

  1. (ii)nuclear structure

  2. (iii)nuclear astrophysics

  3. (iv)R&D of new instrumentation for measuring nuclear physics and biophysics

(v) plasmas produced by laser ablation.

This work was mainly carried out in several laboratories and research institutes, and can be summarized in the following research topics:

  1. -gamma rays emission in coincidence with charged fragments produced in heavy-ion collisions.

  2. -Role of Isospin in nuclear structure and in heavy-ion collisions.

  3. -Alpha cluster structure of 24Mg.

  4. -Fluctuations in excitation functions of dissipative processes in heavy-ion collisions.

  5. -"Halo" effects on the fusion cross section at energies around the Coulomb barrier.

  6. -R&D on new detectors with low energy threshold for heavy ions and new identification techniques and off-line data analysis.

  7. -Nuclear cross section measurements for astrophysical interest through indirect methods (Trojan Horse).

  8. -R&D of instrumentations for applications in biophysics and biomedicine.

  9. -R&D on new single photon detectors.

  10. -Time resolved imaging sensors for the study of laser produced plasma.
