Smart multi-sensor systems'

During the teaching laboratory, students of the Master's Degree in Telecommunications are offered activities aimed at the design, implementation and characterization of sensors and intelligent sensor systems, which employ advanced techniques for the processing of measurement signals, also supported by artificial intelligence algorithms. The aforementioned solutions are applied in the areas of smart city, industrial monitoring, digital health, safety, smart mobility, precision agriculture and environmental protection

The highly interdisciplinary proposal aims to develop application skills on the Internet of Things, principles of transduction, conditioning electronics, wireless data transmission, methodologies for signal processing also through artificial intelligence and sensor fusion techniques, edge computing.

Main instrumentation and equipment:

  • programmable IoT nodes and microcontrollers with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, LoRa and cellular IoT connectivity;
  • sensors for measurements of inertial, magnetic and environmental quantities;
  • digital measurement instrumentation (spectrum analyzers, signal generators and digital oscilloscopes);
  • hardware/software solutions for the acquisition, visualization and processing of measurement signals.
