Luciano MIUCCIO

Assistant Professor of Telecommunications [IINF-03/A]

Luciano Miuccio received the bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering and the master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering (cum laude) from the University of Catania, Italy, in 2015 and 2018, respectively. In November 2022, he received the Ph.D. degree in Systems, Energy, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering from the same university, with the additional distinction of Doctor Europaeus.

Since March 2023, he has been an Assistant Professor of Telecommunications with the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering, University of Catania. From May to September 2019, he was an early-stage researcher at the same university, working on methodologies for the multi-objective optimization of parametric systems. In 2022, he was a Visiting Ph.D. Student with the Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC), University of Oulu, Finland, under the supervision of Prof. Mehdi Bennis. In October 2025, he also joined the same institution as a Visiting Researcher for a two-month period.

His research interests include green networking, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) techniques, and the application of artificial intelligence to radio resource management in beyond 5G (B5G) and 6G networks, with particular emphasis on multi-agent reinforcement learning for wireless networks.

He has been actively involved in the organization of major international conferences. He has served on the Technical Program Committees of several international conferences, including IEEE ICC, IEEE GLOBECOM, IEEE ICMLCN, and IEEE VTC. He has also delivered tutorials at international conferences such as IEEE RTSI, IEEE EUROCON, and European Wireless, focusing on protocol learning for communication networks.

He has contributed to the organization of international conferences as Special Session and Workshop Co-Chair at IEEE RTSI, IEEE EUROCON, IEEE CSCN, IEEE COINS, and IEEE PiCom.

He currently serves as an Associate Editor for several international journals, including Ad Hoc Networks and Wireless Networks.
