Assistant Professor of Transportation [ICAR/05]

Giovanni Calabrò (Catania, 27/05/1994) is currently Research Fellow (Ricercatore t.d. A) at the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering of the University of Catania, where he obtained the BSc in Civil and Environmental Engineering (2016) and the MSc in Water and Transportation Civil Engineering (2018) both with honours.

In 2022, he obtained the Ph.D. in Evaluation and Mitigation of Urban and Territorial Risks (curriculum in Transportation Engineering) - XXXIV cycle, with a dissertation on the "Adaptive Transit design and operation via agent-based simulations and analytical models".

From May 2022 to June 2023 he worked at the Department for the EU Policies and Structural Funds of the Municipality of Catania with the qualification of Technical Project Manager - Mobility expert.

Currently, his research focuses on the prediction of traffic flows on a road network without traffic detectors through Machine Learning (ML) models and mixed datasets.

Member of the Italian Association for Traffic and Transport Engineering (AIIT) since 2019, he has published several peer-reviewed papers in international journals and conference proceedings (Scopus H-index = 8).
