Learning Objectives

  • ELECTRIC POWER DISTRIBUTION AND UTILIZATION

    The first module of the Course aims at providing knowledge on structures, components, functions, analysis and design methods of medium and low voltage distribution networks.

  • SMART GRIDS

    The second module of the Course aims at providing knowledge on structures, functions, analysis, operation and protection methods of electrical distribution networks with distributed generation and storage systems according to the innovative paradigm of Smart Grids.

  • ELECTRIC POWER DISTRIBUTION AND UTILIZATION

    1. Technical Norms, Laws and Standards for electrical power systems.

    2. Configurazione dei sistemi elettrici e cenni sulle scelte tecniche fondamentali.

    3. Strutture di rete per media e bassa tensione e cenni sui criteri di scelta.

    4. Il problema termico negli impianti elettrici.

    5. Introduzione al problema della sicurezza elettrica e delle condizioni ambientali.

    6. Determinazione dei carichi convenzionali.

    7. Caratteristiche costruttive delle condutture elettriche. Linee aeree e linee in cavo.

    8. Calcolo elettrico delle linee R-L.

    9. Sovracorrenti e calcolo delle correnti di corto circuito.

    10. Sovratensioni.

    11. Apparecchi di manovra.

    12. Dispositivi di protezione dalle sovracirrenti e dalle sovratensioni.

    13. Condizione del neutro nei sistemi trifase.

    14. Cabine elettriche MT/BT e loro dimensionamento.

    15. Impianti elettrici per l’illuminazione interna.

    16. Rifasamento degli impianti elettrici.

    17. Impianti elettrici per alcuni ambienti ed applicazioni particolari.

    18. Criteri di progettazione e protezione secondo la tecnica di sicurezza elettrica (Norme CEI).

  • SMART GRIDS

    Electrical energy production according to the new paradigm of "Distributed Generation" (DG).

    Transmission and distribution network structures according to traditional and innovative concepts.

    Integration issues of DG in LV and MV distribution electrical networks. The Smart Grid paradigm (according to the European Technology Platform).

    Voltage regulation and active and reactive power flow control in LV and MV distribution networks. Voltage sensitity analysis.

    Analysis of symmetrical and unsymmetrical faults in transmission and distribution networks.

    Analysis of neutral grounding in transmission and distribution neworks. effect on overcurrents and overvoltages during different types of faults.

    Automation and protection schemes in transmission and intelligent distribution electrical networks.

    Reliability analysis of intelligent distribution electrical networks.
