Giuseppe MANGIONI

Giuseppe Mangioni graduated in Computer Engineering in 1995 and obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering in 2000 from the University of Catania. In 1995, he also qualified as a Professional Engineer.

From 2000 to 2004, he was a Research Fellow at the Department of Computer Engineering and Telecommunications. Between 2000 and 2007, he served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering of Catania, teaching the following courses: Fundamentals of Computer Science (Academic Year 2000/2001), Programming Laboratory (Academic Year 2002/2003), Computer Networks at the Enna campus (Academic Year 2003/2004), and Computer Networks (from Academic Years 2004/2005 to 2007/2008).

In 2008, he won the national competition for the position of Assistant Professor (scientific-disciplinary sector ING-INF/05) at the University of Catania. In the same year, he joined the Department of Computer Engineering and Telecommunications as a Assistant Professor. Since 2018, he has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering. In November 2024, he was appointed Chair of the Master's Degree Program Board in Computer Engineering for the 2024-2028 term. He is currently teaching the courses Internet and Security and Object-Oriented Programming in the Bachelor's Degree Program in Computer Engineering. He is also co-instructor of the course Advanced Programming and AI Coding in the Master's Degree Program in Computer Engineering.

Giuseppe Mangioni is the author and co-author of more than 120 international publications, including journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters. He is a member of the Steering Committee and co-founder of the International Conference on Complex Networks and Their Applications (CompleNet). He served as General Chair of CompleNet 2009 and CompleNet 2020, and as Program Chair of the Intelligent Distributed Computing Symposium (IDC 2009), CompleNet 2010, and CompleNet 2015. Giuseppe Mangioni has also served on the Program Committees of numerous international conferences and workshops.

His main research interests include Network Science, Geometric Deep Learning, and Machine Learning.
