Learning Objectives

The educational objective of the course is to provide a comprehensive knowledge of classical mechanics and thermodynamics. The training course to acquire such a result is as follows:

Study of the fundamental laws of classical mechanics of the material point and of a system of material points with particular regard to kinematics, Newton's laws and the principles of conservation.
Study of rigid body dynamics
Study of oscillatory phenomena
Study of fluid mechanics
Study of the laws of thermodynamics and applications to different physical systems.

The approach to the description of the systems and phenomena described above will be experimental and the physical theories will be presented in terms of logical structure and mathematics and experimental evidence. After completing the course, the student will be able to assess similarities and differences between physical systems and methodologies to be applied. The student will have acquired the ability to apply knowledge and understanding through exercises and problem solving.
