Mobile Networks for 4G/5G

The 4G/5G Mobile Networks Laboratory of DIEEI is equipped with several tools for setting up versatile test scenario to monitor the signaling, the throughput and QoS performance, coverage mapping, HO and VoLTE testing. The laboratory is also used for practical experiences of the course Reti e Servizi Mobili.

LTE Small Cell LAB

5G Testbed based on SDN/NFV

  • OpenAirInterface 3GPP Emulation Platform
  • FlexRAN SD-RAN Controller
  • 1 x SuperMicro Server Intel Xeon CPU E5-4610 v2 @ 2.30GHz, RAM 256 GB
  • Multiple Virtual Machines (VM)

The Softwarized Network Lab for 5G is equipped with an SDN/NFV network platform where modeling and designing management and orchestration techniques, and where prototyping and testing advanced services for 5G networks.

Available Hardware:

  • An SDN/NFV network with 3 NFVI PoP nodes
  • An SDN Controller based on OpenDaylight
  • A data center with 4 server Dell, managed with Openstack, MAAS and Juju
  • An NFV network orchestrator based on OSM
  • An hapkit device for tactile educational applications
