Cristina VENTURA

Assistant Professor

Ventura Cristina received in July 2008 the master's degree in Automation Engineering, with honours, at the University of Catania, where she also received the PhD in Electrical Engineering in March 2012.

From July 2012 to June 2015 and from July 2019 to June Dicember 2021, she was a Research Fellow at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Catania, where she is currently a researcher (Ric. T.D. A).

Ventura Cristina teaches Electrical machines and systems in the degree in Industrial Engineering. She has taught Renewable generation and energy conversion in the master's degree in Electrical Engineering for Sustainable Green Energy Transition (2022-2023).

Cristina Ventura's research activities mainly concerns renewable energy with a focus on photovoltaic systems in the area of Electrical Systems for Energy. The main topics addressed are as follows: study of distributed photovoltaic resources, study of distributed energy resources, energy communities optimization, development and study of experimental photovoltaic-thermal and floating type systems, adequacy and resilience of the Italian power system in the medium to long term, development of models for monitoring and diagnosis of photovoltaic systems, modeling of photovoltaic systems: physical, circuit and machine learning-based approaches, low Concentration Photovoltaic Systems, development of mathematical models for analysis and forecasting of environmental data, development of small-scale stand-alone photovoltaic systems, solar tracking systems and MPPT algorithms. She authored several papers published in international journals and presented at international conferences.

Ventura Cristina is a member of the editorial board of some international journals: Sustainability (ISSN 2071-1050); Clean Energy and Sustainability; Clean Technologies & Recycling (ISSN 2770-4580) and Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development (E-ISSN: 2356-8569, P-ISSN: 2356-8518). She is also editor of several Special Issue for international journals.
